Technophobes

Audience:

}The program would appeal to teenagers and young adults 16-25
}Working class
}C2DE
Institution
}Just from knowing that the program will being showing on bb3 allows to know that  the program is most likely to do be a documentary to inform people. Its split into episodes to keep the audience interested and to carry on watching it.
}BB3 is also targeted to teenagers to inform them and let them know the pros and cons of different things e.g. drugs, sex
Media Forms:
}The codes and conventions that I would be expecting from a documentary are:
}Interviews
}Images (moving and still)
}Voiceover
}Theme
}Music
}archive material
}Graphics-credits
}single strand narrative
}Editing: cut is the most common edit because it then doesn't distract the attention of the interviewee.
}Voiceover is sometimes relevant depending on the topic-relevant age to the topic-standard English, calm and clear delivery. creative and varied camerawork.- conventional framing on the interviews with camera on a tripod and not hand held.
}camera movement: pan up and down, zoom etc.
}Graphics-anchor the person, time, places and relevance to the programmes topics-simple and usually two lines wrong.
Representations:
}Teenagers are portrayed negatively as they are seen as being ‘weird’ as the current generation and the next is highly influenced by technology. Therefore these teenagers will be laughed.
}From watching the first episode of the programme on BBC Three it has made me think about different types of people and how people are different in various ways. Before watching the show I used to think that everybody used to know how to work a computer in some way but after watching it, it had made me think about the people who cant and are just afraid of technology, It has made me realise that not all of society/people are the same and that due to different people upbringings and norms they may be undeveloped in some way.

1) Media forms
What are used in this trailer to persuade the audience to watch the film?

2) Representation
How are dads represented in this particular trailer?

3) Audiences
What type of audience would be attracted for this film?

4) Institutions
How does the production company influence the audience to watch the film?

ANSWERSS.
Question 1) conventions
- slow music, represents a type of story - emotional

- voice over, from the actual actor - this can encourage the audience to watch it as that's a familiar voice.
They didnt put another person to do a voice over as the voice of George Clooney can interact with the audience more and it can be treated more as a 'true story' than a fiction.
Its 'relate-able'

- film ratings at the beginning to show what type of audience is suited for it

- Title at the end of the trailer, to keep the audience 'hooked' this may be enigma as there is a slight mystery as the audience dont know what the film's called.

-Text/fade out

- Production company is always displayed (century fox)

Hollywood values and characteristics :
- Big name actor (george clooney)

- Award winning ....

- fox century represents big budget, theyre well known

- original soundtrack (high production values)

Sympathetic Language used to persuade the audience to watch the film

Question 2)

men/dads are represented as weak and how they cant do well without a mother figure
useless
'understudy'
disrespected
but as the trailer carries on we see that men/dads can stand up on their own feet and do things without relying on the mother.

question 3)

Since the ratings at the beginning say : R means that its suitable for a 16+ audience

men/dads can be the audience for this film as it can be something to relate to

but women can be the audience as well because it can give them a different impression on men also the fact that George Clooney is the main character can
encourage women to watch it, also the music is quite feminine which then can relate to women more.

The type of music makes the film feel like a 'feel good' film with a beginning, middle, climax but overall ending positive ending. -Emotional attachment

Question 4)
fox century is a big production company showing that its got big budget and willing to spend a lot of money
this will influence the audience to watch it because they are familiar with fox century from many previous films such as star wars, chronicles of narnia, avatar, dr dolittle
encouraging the audience to watch it as they might feel that this film is a good one judging from previous films produced by 20 century fox

 Trailers reviews
Best year 12 production: Johny
genre- gangster
Two best friends with one aim to make money. This starts of by selling cannabis as their way of making money. Two young adults Uzair and Aftab hit the roads to try make money however  ‘johny’ is released from jail thinking everything is the same and return to his territory and start selling cannabis however does not know it has been taken over by Aftab and Uzair.  Aftab and Uzair are seen as young boys who are in love with their money and selling their drugs, they are seen as the dominant force in their neighbourhood, until ‘johny’ returns, they happily go about their business selling their drugs and making their money, until one day they hear about ‘johny’ moving in on their territory and they feel as if they must go to any lengths to stop him. However with a twist as ‘johny’ is approached by Aftab and Uzair, Uzair is betrayed by his fellow friend. The trailer starts by showing the release date of ‘johny’ that can be seen as the villain. The type of music played in the background is grime as it’s the music which is listened to by their target audience the working class in this case is young adults ageing 15-25. It’s a movie set in the streets of Southall. There is a lighting of darkness as the actors within the movie facial expressions are serious and down to business and violence usually occurs at night. The costumes shown are the characters wearing hoodies which are clothing represented in the news and other mediums as intimidating, it is also a way of remaining hidden and unexposed. The props used is a gun as the movie contains a lot of violence, showing people getting mugged on the streets and baseball bats as weapons and drugs as their product of making money which is the target the actors are trying to make.
www- good editing, good use of sound and enjoyable story line
EBI- better video quality

Best year 13 production: call of duty
This was a game play for call of duty, this was good as the timeing of the gunshot and the sound was accurate.
The lighting was during the day so the player can see where its character is moving and towards what direction and see its opponent to kill in order to gain points.
The setting was in the woods this was so the game could match the games map ‘wasteland’ which is meant to be based in the woods.
They used songs such ‘freak me’ to make it more entertaining and comedy.
www- good timing of sound and the gunshot also the loading time was accurate.
EBI- used play guns or something to make it more realistic
